Recycled Spring Planters
These planters make great use of old tea boxes, coffee tins, even plastic ice cream tubs. If the container looks retro or vintage, leave it as it is. If it is plain or boring, add your own artwork or stickers!
You Will Need:
- Cool containers, tins, boxes or buckets, not too big
- Potting soil
- Small pebbles or rocks
- Small plants, seeds or bulbs
- Newspaper
- Watering can with water
- Spoons or small digging utensils
- Hammer and small nails (an adult must help with this)
What To Do:
Basically you want to plant your items and give the planters as gifts!
Each container will be different, so adjust as needed:
- If container has a lid, use that on the bottom as a drip catcher and punch a few very small holes in the bottom of the container.
- If there is no lid, or for added protection in any container, use the small pebbles to line the bottom of the container for drainage.
- Cover your work surface with newspaper.
- Fill the container two-thirds full of potting soil.
- Add your seeds or small plants or bulbs according to the growing instructions.
- Cover with more potting soil.
